We agree with Drs Braillon and Bewley that transparency is a necessary, but likely not sufficient approach to managing interactions between physicians and industry. We would reiterate that some contact is necessary to advance the standard of clinical care. Proposed regulation should allow productive, evidence-based interactions without compromising public trust in patient-focused medicine.
