We recognize that scientific interpretation may differ among intelligent people. Dr Hamilton-Miller’s letter to the editor appears focused on interpretation of historical events, rather than the data presented in our current article. The perspective of our article in a historical context confirms prior assertions that there are, in fact, urinary microbiota in many adult women. While much remains to be studied in this young scientific field, we believe our collective efforts should be forward facing with efforts to clarify specific roles of individual and groups of microbes.
