Conclusion
Subfertile couples suffering from anovulation should be well informed on treatment effect on the cycle level in terms of ovulation as well as pregnancy and live birth, on side effects, and on the reproductive life of the woman and her family, thus allowing shared decision making. Clinical research should follow this need. Studies assessing the effectiveness of ovulation induction in the short term should report on ovulation rates and on live birth over a multiple number of cycles. Preferably, studies should also assess short- as well as long-term (side) effects, including subsequent pregnancies and future cardiovascular health.
